What to Expect Before, During, and After
Personalized Consultation
Dr. Torkian will conduct a thorough consultation to understand your skin concerns, goals, and medical history. This allows him to determine the ideal Helix treatment for you—whether that’s CoolPeel®, Sultra, or FUSION.
Procedure
On the day of treatment, your skin will be thoroughly cleansed, and a topical numbing cream may be applied to enhance comfort. We will set the Helix laser to the appropriate parameters based on your treatment goals before carefully passing the Helix laser handpiece over the targeted areas of your skin.
The CoolPeel mode delivers controlled pulses to resurface the outer skin layer, while Sultra provides deep, non-ablative collagen stimulation. With FUSION, we combine both modes, addressing surface imperfections and stimulating collagen at deeper levels simultaneously. The laser’s advanced “spray” mode helps ensure an even application, reducing overlap for a quicker and more comfortable experience.
Cooling and Comfort Management
The Helix system incorporates a cooling mechanism to minimize discomfort during the procedure, which is typically well tolerated by patients. You may feel a warm or tingling sensation as the laser pulses make contact with the skin, but most patients describe the experience as manageable.
Post-Treatment Care
Immediately after the treatment, you may experience mild redness, warmth, or a tingling sensation similar to a sunburn. Dr. Torkian will provide you with specific aftercare instructions to support optimal healing and results. This may include avoiding sun exposure, applying gentle moisturizers, and following a simple skincare routine to soothe and protect the skin as it heals.
Recovery and Results
Depending on the intensity of your treatment, recovery can range from a few hours to several days if you receive a more intensive ablative treatment. As your skin heals, you’ll notice gradual improvements in texture, tone, and elasticity, with full results typically visible in the weeks following your treatment as collagen production continues to build.
